Embracing Winter: A Season for Slower Self-Love

As the days are now shorter, the air has turned decidedly crisp, and the nights seem endless, we find ourselves stepping ever deeper to winter. This time of year often carries the hum of hustle and bustle, but have you noticed how your body seems to whisper for stillness? For rest? For nourishment? If so, I want you to know: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to listen to that voice.

Winter invites us inward—a time to reflect, to recuperate, to simply be. It’s not about pushing yourself to be a different version of who you are today. Who you are right now is enough. In fact, I’d argue that this season isn’t meant for new endeavors or dramatic reinventions. Historically, winter was a time for rest and quiet planning, not for striving or hustle. And yet, here we are, trying to will ourselves into new habits the moment the calendar flips to January 1st.

I’ve been there, too—feeling like I had to “fix” myself, like I needed to be someone entirely new to deserve joy or love. But what I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t come from shame or self-criticism. It comes from softening. From nurturing. From treating yourself with the kind of love and care you’d offer a cherished friend.

This is the heart of my self-love coaching: helping you embrace the person you are today and layering in lush, gentle practices that nourish your soul.

When you think about the version of yourself you want to be, what if the journey started with loving yourself more instead of less? What if you gave yourself permission to invest in the version of you who feels cherished, whole, and at peace with who they are?

An Invitation to Deepen Your Care

If this season finds you longing for a softer way to approach yourself, I’d love to walk beside you. Together, we’ll uncover practices that allow you to show up for yourself in ways that feel sustainable and kind.

Imagine this: waking up in the morning and feeling a sense of peace with who you are. Making choices—not out of guilt or shame—but from a place of love and care. Walking through your day, knowing that you are inherently valuable, lovable, and deserving. That’s the transformation I want for you.

Whenever you’re ready, I’m here.

Three Gentle Winter Self-Care Practices

To start nourishing yourself right now, here are three small but impactful practices you can weave into your winter days:

  1. A Tea Ritual: Brew yourself a cup of something warm and soothing. Tulsi, Rose & Linden would be a delightful blend. Sit quietly, wrap your hands around the mug, and let the steam rise to meet your face. As you sip, reflect on one thing you’re grateful for about yourself today.

  2. A Bedtime Ritual: Light a candle and spend a few minutes journaling before bed. Was there a moment today when you were able to truly see & love yourself? Was there an obstacle to achieving that feeling today? What might you do tomorrow to support yourself in feeling that love even more deeply?

  3. A Pause for Breath: Throughout the day, pause and take five deep breaths. Close your eyes, and with each exhale, ask yourself: What am I feeling right now? Just noticing your emotions can bring a sense of connection to yourself.

These moments might seem small, but they’re powerful acts of care. And when you’re ready to take that next step—whether it’s now or months from now—I’m here, ready to guide you.

Because you deserve love. Not someday. Not when you “fix” yourself. But today, exactly as you are.

From my heart to yours, I hope you love yourself today,

M
